Kosovo’s president and prime minister issued unusually explicit statements backing U.S. action in Venezuela on Friday, making Pristina the only American ally to offer full political support as reports emerged of explosions and U.S. strikes in Caracas.
President Vjosa Osmani said Kosovo “stands firmly with the United States and President Donald Trump in support of its actions against Venezuela’s narco-terror regime.”
In a public statement, Osmani said President Trump “stood with the people of Venezuela and stood up to Maduro’s narco-state — protecting America and the rest of the world from cartels and organized crime.” She added that “this is what strength and American leadership look like.”
Osmani argued that the situation in Venezuela carries implications beyond the country’s borders, saying, “Narco-terrorism and authoritarian rule threaten peace far beyond national borders.” She said the Venezuelan people “deserve freedom, democracy, and a future governed by law, not fear.”
Referencing Kosovo’s own history, Osmani said, “Kosovo understands the impact of American resolve — our own liberation is a testament to it,” and urged broader alignment with Washington, adding, “At a moment when the U.S. is confronting tyranny in Venezuela, we should all reinforce this stance, because the transatlantic community is strongest when united behind American leadership and shared values.” She concluded, “When America leads, we proudly stand together — because our collective freedom depends on it.”
Separately, the government led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti issued an official statement supporting what it described as a U.S.-led “anti-narcotics operation” in Venezuela.
“The Republic of Kosovo supports the anti-narcotics operation of the United States of America, led by President Donald Trump, in Venezuela,” the statement said. It added that “holding state actors accountable for involvement in drug trafficking is essential for success in the fight against this phenomenon.”
The statement reaffirmed Kosovo’s strategic alignment with Washington, saying, “Kosovo, as a strategic ally of the United States and NATO, offers full support in the fight against narcotics trafficking and against the undermining of Western democratic values by proxy actors representing opponents of these values.”
Kurti’s government also linked the developments in Venezuela to broader security concerns, stating, “We reiterate the need for increased attention toward certain regional actors who continuously seek to provoke security situations through hybrid, criminal, terrorist, and military actions.”
The statements came as the situation in Caracas remained fluid, with reports of U.S. strikes on Venezuelan military and security targets and uncertainty surrounding President Nicolás Maduro’s whereabouts, while many U.S. allies responded with calls for restraint or avoided direct endorsement of Washington’s actions.
